Health Science Foundations Honors
- This class is the second in the Health Science Program sequence. This course provides the opportunity to explore the characteristics of workers in major health career clusters.
- It includes health care delivery systems, communications skills, legal and ethical responsibilities, wellness and disease, safety and security, emergency situations, medical terminology, and employability skills.
- Knowledge of blood borne diseases, HIV/AIDS, infection control, hand washing, CPR, vital signs and domestic violence are presented along with a review of mathematics and science related to health care.

- This course provides the opportunity to explore the characteristics of workers in major health career clusters.
- The content includes but is not limited to performing skills representative of one to three areas of allied health care in the laboratory and clinical settings.
- Major areas of allied health are defined as physical therapy, emergency, radiation, laboratory and respiratory medicine, and occupational therapy.
- Other areas of health, medicine, dentistry, or veterinary may be included, with instructor provided competencies. The purpose of this course is to provide students with additional competencies or more extensive occupational experiences related to competencies in a job preparatory program that will enhance their opportunities for employment in the occupation chosen by the student.
- Off campus clinical learning experiences will be required as part of the learning experience.
- Each student will have the opportunity to become Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and a Certified Electrocardiograph Technician (CET)
